A coaching collective in Tiong Bahru

We coach people who want to move more and feel better.

Six coaches, one room, and a schedule built around people who work full days. We programme strength, conditioning and mobility in small groups of six or one-to-one, and we keep the plan honest about the life you actually have.

Who we are

We opened the room in 2026 on Guan Chuan Street, a short walk from Tiong Bahru MRT. Six coaches work from one shared programming system, so the session you book is never tied to a single person being free that morning. The floor is 1 100 sq ft, with four lifting stations, a short sled run and a mat area kept clear of the barbells. Groups are capped at six. That limit is practical: we can watch every repetition, adjust a stance, and still keep the room quiet enough to think between sets.

Every session is written into a shared journal. Load, range, how the work felt, and anything you told us about sleep, travel or a sore knee goes into the same note. The next coach on the floor can pick up that record and run the session you were meant to have, without asking you to recap the last month. We are a collective, not a set of private practices sharing a lease. If you train here, you train with the room, and the room keeps the thread from week to week.

What we run

Foundations (small group)

A standing group for people who want a weekly rhythm they can keep. We lift, condition and open the hips and shoulders in the same hour, with enough rest that the work stays clean.

Most people start here. The group stays small so we can still change a grip or swap a variation without stopping the room.

Strength Block (1:1)

One coach, one person, and a four-week block written around the lifts you actually need. Useful when your week is irregular, or when a pattern still needs more eyes than a group can give.

We keep the same journal as the groups, so you can move between formats later without starting again.

Return to Load

For bodies that have spent long seasons at a desk, or that are coming back after a layoff. We rebuild the ability to take load, slowly, and we work alongside your physiotherapist’s guidance when you have one.

We do not replace clinical care. We programme the training that sits next to it.

Run Support

Conditioning and strength work for people who run in Singapore heat and then wonder why the calves keep tightening. We treat running as part of the week, not as something that happens after the “real” training.

Sessions stay short enough to sit beside your existing mileage.

How the first month goes

  1. Intro session

Sixty minutes, one-to-one. We watch how you breathe under a light load, how you squat, hinge, press and carry, and we ask about the week you actually live.

  2. Baseline week

Three sessions that look almost too easy. We are collecting range, timing and how you recover overnight, not chasing a tired finish.

  3. First block

Weeks two to four add load in small steps. The exercises stay familiar so we can see whether the work is landing.

  4. Review

At the end of week four we sit down with the journal, name what held, and write the next block in front of you.

The first four weeks are deliberately below what you could probably do on a good day. Singapore heat, late finishes at the office and a long MRT ride home all change how a body takes load. If we start at the ceiling, the second week is usually the one people miss. We would rather finish month one with a plan you still want to keep than with a story about how hard the first fortnight felt. The journal from those weeks is what we use to set week five, so the restraint has a job: it gives us a clean reading.

Casework

Composite examples, assembled from the kind of work we do. No individual is described and no names are used.

Back to lifting after two years of walking

Where it started

A person who had walked most evenings for two years and had not taken a barbell off the floor in that time. The walks were regular. The hips were stiff in the morning. Work meant long hours at a laptop and a late dinner.

What we programmed

Foundations twice a week, with goblet squats, a Romanian deadlift from blocks, and a very short sled push. We held the loads still for the first fortnight and only then added plates.

What changed after 16 weeks

In this kind of case the walks usually stay, the morning stiffness eases, and a conventional deadlift at a modest load becomes a normal Tuesday rather than an event.

A runner losing weeks to calf pain

Where it started

Someone running four times a week in the humidity, skipping strength because the calendar was already full, and stopping every few weeks when the calf tightened again.

What we programmed

Run Support plus one quiet strength hour. Calf raises to a slow tempo, a hinge pattern, and a hard rule that easy runs stayed easy on the days after lifting.

What changed after 16 weeks

Typically the missed weeks thin out. Mileage does not jump. What changes is that the same volume sits on a stronger lower leg and a week that has somewhere to recover.

The room

The floor is one open room: four lifting stations, a 12-metre sled lane, rings, an air bike and two rowers. Windows run along Guan Chuan Street, and the ventilation is set for a humid afternoon rather than a temperate gym. Two showers sit behind the changing alcove. We keep the kit in the same places every day so a 07:30 group can start on time.

Weekday slots sit at 06:30, 07:30, 12:15, 18:00 and 19:00. Saturday is quieter: Mobility Hour at 07:30 and a Foundations group at 09:00. Showers are first-come, and we ask people to keep them to a few minutes so the next session can change. The weekly timetable and how to reach the door are on the studio page.

Asked most often

Do I need training experience?

No. We write the first block around what you can already do, including if that is mostly walking. The intro session is where we find that out, not a test you pass to join.

Will I be sore the next day?

Sometimes, especially in week one if you have not loaded those tissues in a while. We keep the first fortnight lighter than it could be so the soreness stays useful rather than something that costs you the next session.

Can I train if something already hurts?

If a doctor or physiotherapist has given you a plan, we will work alongside it. If you have new or unexplained pain, we will ask you to get that looked at before we load the area. We do not diagnose.

Come and try a session before you decide anything.

The intro hour is the same work we do with anyone new: a look at how you move, a short lift, and a conversation about the week you can actually give. You leave with a clear sense of whether the room fits. Nothing is sold as a package on that visit unless you ask.
